Cig lighter plugs are old news.
No more adapters that do not put out enough power to charge modern devices that your friends and kids steal.
These are a direct replacement for your cig lighter is MOST 97-12 Honda vehicles. The hardest part is taking out the assembly on the vehicle to get to the socket to replace it but it’s usually just a few screws and some clips.
For Honda Element just open your glove box and reach up and you can pop the old unit out and just pop the new one in. No wiring needed it comes with a premade adapter for easy installation to the factory plug. CRV and other vehicles usually requires removing the lower console part, easy for automatics but a bit of a pain for manual vehicles.
You will need something to SLIGHTLY (1.4mm) enlarge the hole depending on what version you buy. This can be done with a file, sandpaper, drill bit or some kind of grinding tool it’s very easy just some are faster than others.
The voltage readout turns off when the key is off so no battery drain but, when you are parked and using accessories it’s a great way to see what your voltage is so you don’t kill your battery accidently. It’s also a great way to diagnose issues if you have battery or starter issues by immediately knowing what the vehicle voltage is.
This is a great mod to have for a good price and you will be happy you have a touch of modern in your interior.
Installation:
Remove console part you need to remove to see assembly.
Unplug the two prong clip leading to factory socket.
Use a hammer to tap the metal part of the factory plug out from the back it should just come right out with a tap.
Use a hammer to tap the plastic part of the stock plug out from the back side.
Check fitment and enlarge hold as needed (it’s just a small amount do not go in there with a die grinder and just hog it out. Do a little at a time.
Insert plug and tighten ring. (not always needed if you get the fit snug)
Plug in factory plug to adapter.
Re assemble console.
